Tweet from the Flat Earth Society
This supposedly authentic tweet has gone viral, so many if not all of you have read it by now. I wish—even hope—
that it really did come from the FES, but I suspect it is a hoax. Nevertheless, reading it started me thinking about and
researching paradoxical statements. I have collected a few of my favorites, as well as a few statements about paradoxes.
Don't believe anything you
read on the net. Except

Douglas Adams

Take away paradox from
the thinker and you have a
professor.
Søren Kierkegaard
How wonderful that we have
met with a paradox. Now we
have some hope of making
progress.
Niels Bohr
Two paradoxes are better
than one; they may even
suggest a solution.
Edward Teller
There are two tragedies
in life. One is to lose your
heart's desire. The other is
to gain it.
George Bernard Shaw
The money you have gives
you freedom: the money you
pursue enslaves you.
Jean Jacques Rousseau
Seek freedom and become
captive of your desires. Seek
discipline and find your
liberty.
Frank Herbert
It is the pursuit of happiness
that makes people unhappy.
Piero Scaruffi
Surely the job of fiction is to
actually tell the truth. It's a
paradox that's at the heart of
any kind of storytelling.
Jeremy Northam
